Speculation in r/newzealand from "Copper services were also affected." in RNZ article that perhaps this was due to copper being stolen. However Juha's article has photo with caption "Chorus contractors splicing and repairing the damaged fibre optic cable under Mangere Bridge. "

27 November 2019 fb video https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2619567201466268 The earliest I've seen so far of a robot waiter in NZ. 108 Tastes, a chinese restaurant at 100 Carlton Gore Road, Newmarket, Auckland.

According to 2 comments made in the 1 Jan 2022 reddit post, Miracle Asian restaurant in Nelson has a robot waiter too. Looked it up on fb and found this 2 Oct 2021 vid announcing its presence https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1534967213519882 "Welcome to the newest member of our team! ✨”Mira Robot ✨our indoor Service Robot @ Miracle Asian Restaurant on 200 Hardy St,. Nelson. 🎉🎉 Come in and say hello 🤩🤩 "

What it does is allow one person to make one trip when multiple trips to ferry dishes to the table. A more recent clip shows it delivering a sundae while playing Happy Birthday song.

Same sort of robot as the 2 in Nelson (Well one nelson and one Richmond, Nelson) So someone (business or person) has brought in a few of these and selling or leasing them out?

Cobb & Co Rotorua 1 Jan 2022 reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/newzealand/comments/rt7oxf/cobb_and_co_rotorua_has_a_robot/

"He found it for sale in China a month ago, spent $25,000 on it and it was installed two weeks ago. A team of people came to help map out the restaurant, so the bot knows which table is where. It works like this: waiters simply place food on it, then enter the table number it’s going to. Batteries last most of the day. It’s never dropped anything. No one’s tried to steal it. Yet."

Piece by Seven Sharp on TV1 on the Cobb and Co bots on 11 May 2022 Cobb & Co Rotorua add robots to the staff roster https://www.1news.co.nz/2022/05/11/cobb-co-rotorua-add-robots-to-the-staff-roster/

Bella-bots cost $26,000 each. "… a Facebook ad caught his attention…"

I still think they need cloches to cover the food especially with the attention the bots were getting from kids etc.
