Ghazal in Glen Eden marked as permanently closed on Google maps. Possibly this happened in 2020 or before. Google reviews comments aren't dated but we are told x years ago or if it was more recent it as x months or x days. Comment on google reviews from 3 years ago saying "Awful, this place has also shutdown". Comment before that (left 4 years ago) said "Grade E. Inspected 19/03/2019: Critical risk cleaning, restricted water supply."

Note: Venue used to be Freiya's Indian restaurant. Changed owners in late 2006. Changed name to Ghazal in 2007. According to July 2007 of Ponsonby News, owners are Gary Singh and Doreen Prasad. Chefs are chefs Virender Singh and Birender Rawat. Ghazal offers "authentic North Indian cuisine".

• 21 Aug 2008 Visit:
  • Mark - Food was great, however - that Chicken Vindaloo I ordered was very much beef, and why were we charged for TWO vindaloos?
  • Worked out a little expensive ( $35 ) although some people ordered drinks was a factor. Main problem was food took a while to come out ( 20 minutes between first and last served). Okay otherwise but they won't make the top 5 unless they fix those problems.
